Dear Friends, Family and Members of NCS,

After what has felt like a long winter, NCS is very excited to announce that we will be opening the 2010 Women's Clinic program on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 10:00am!  We know that many of you ladies have been waiting to hear about what we have in store for the clinic this year and we are happy to share that information with you now.  

NCS will be offering a Women's Clinic on every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00 pm - 8:00pm from June 29th to August 19th, rain or shine.  The Tuesday night clinic will be oriented towards introductory sailing concepts and is intended for our beginner sailors, or those sailors who may be looking to enjoy a more recreational approach to sailing. The Thursday night clinic will be oriented towards more advanced sailing concepts and beginner racing techniques and is intended for those students who may be looking to "take the next step."

For those of you who are new to NCS's Women's clinic here is a brief description: The Women's Sailing Clinic is designed to specifically give adult women, of all levels, the opportunity to learn to sail or to refine previous sailing skills at the Jetties Sailing Center.  A focus is placed on teaching and reviewing the fundamentals, as well as Introducing students to the basics of racing. Key goals of the class include building confidence and ensuring that students are comfortable on the water.  Classes are taught primarily in Rhodes 19s or Marshall 15s with an instructor and 2-3 students on each boat. Our 34' J-105 keelboat will be used, when available, for instruction as well.  In case of foul weather there will be a "chalk-talk" and on-land instruction will still take place.  For a full description on the Women's Clinic please visit our NCS website by clicking here.

Due to the limited space available, NCS has implemented a new rule when registering for Women's Clinic.  You are limited to only register for 5 out of the total 7 sessions available during the season.  If you wish to participate in all 7 sessions, you will have the opportunity to wait list for the other two sessions and if they do not fill or if someone drops out, you will be moved into the session.  It is our hope that this new policy will allow everyone an opportunity to get out on the water.  Registration for a Tuesday or Thursday evening Women's Clinic will be available throughout the adult program registration page.  If a clinic is "filled" NCS will take names for a Wait List and will contact people either the day before or the morning of that evening's clinic.

Also, continuing after last years success there will be a Women's Fun Sail as a part of Nantucket Race Week on Tuesday August 10, 2010.  Due to this event, there is no Women's Clinic on August 10th and 12th, 2010.  This event is not included in the NCS Women's Clinic Registration or Membership.  More on how to register for this event will be coming soon.
